The Mysterious Climate Project – Part I

The Air We Breathe… Still Good After All These Years?

Slowly but surely, air pollution is simply killing us. According to an article in the November 2002 issue of the New York Times by columnist Paul Krugman, large increases in air pollution are in the offering and warned Americans, "it might be a good idea to breathe now, while you still can."

  • In a November 2001 press release by the Sierra Club, "Smog is out of control in almost all of our major cities

  • In 2002, the Public Interest Research Group published Darkening Skies, which claimed soot pollution was increasing.

  • In April 2004, the Washington Post lamented, "Ozone pollution has declined slightly over the past 30 years".

We don’t have to be someone on the fringe to realize that’s bad stuff.

But… is it true?

A few years ago President Clinton’s supporters continuously repeated the phrase “Everyone doing it” when referring to Clinton’s marital infidelities. According to them, most men cheat on their wives, end of story, period. Amazingly, and with little hesitation, the public bought this assertion hook, line, and sinker.

Unknown to most, an ongoing study by the National Opinion Research Center in conjunction with the University of Chicago, indicated over 70% of married men have never cheated on their wives… a complete repudiation of the manipulators!

So why the great disparity between perception and reality?

According to world famous mind control expert Dr. Joost Meerloo, "He who dictates and formulates the words and phrases we use, he who is master of the press and radio, is master of the mind. Repeat mechanically your assumptions and suggestions, diminish the opportunity for communicating dissent and opposition. This is the formula for political conditioning of the masses." And that is exactly what the manipulators have done.

Having said that, let’s review those three opening statements through the prism of reality:

  • "Smog is out of control in almost all of our major cities."
    • Reality: the nation had just achieved its two lowest smog years ever.

  • The Public Interest Research Group’s Darkening Skies claimed soot pollution was increasing.
    • Reality: The nation was near the end of a fourth consecutive record-low year for soot pollution

  • The Washington Post claim "Ozone pollution has declined slightly over the past 30 years".
    • Reality: violations of the federal 1-hour ozone standard had declined 95 percent since the 1970s

But it doesn’t stop there! According to EPA figures (measured against a 1980 baseline):

  • Fine particulate matter has declined 40%
  • Peak eight hour ozone levels declined 20%
  • Days per year exceeding the eight hour ozone standard has fallen 79%
  • Nitrogen dioxide air concentrations dropped 37%
  • Sulfur dioxide air concentrations dropped 63%
  • Carbon monoxide air concentrations dropped 74%
  • Lead air concentrations dropped 96%

Additionally:

  • In 1980, almost 75% of ozone monitoring stations exceeded standards. By 2005, that figure was reduced to 18%
  • In 1980, almost 90% of particulate matter monitoring stations exceeded standards. By 2005, that figure was reduced to 16%
  • On May 1, 2007 the American Lung Association reported smog has been on the decline since 2002.

All this in spite of significant increases in population, transportation, commerce, and agricultural activities. You’re probably asking “Huh? If the air has improved so much over the years, why do we have global warming?”

And that indeed, is a very good question! In order to arrive at an answer, we must first understand the basic structure of earth’s atmosphere.

In the next section of The Mysterious Climate Project, we will lay the groundwork for understanding our climate by exploring earth’s atmosphere!
